A light and delicious meal perfect for any time. These can be cooked on a barbecue, griddle pan or in the oven. Time to experiment and enjoy!
Marinade
3T Chinese five-spice powder
50ml clear honey
50ml soy sauce
juice of 1 lime
1t sesame oil
1 chilli finely chopped
2 cloves of minced garlic
1T finely grated fresh ginger
Mix together the above ingredients and marinate the pork chops for a few hours.
4 large pork chops
4 nectarines cut in half, with the stone removed
Barbecue, griddle or place the pork chops and nectarines on a baking tray under the grill. Turn and allow both sides to cook evenly. Alternatively cook for an hour in a preheated oven at 180C turning them after 30 minutes.
The meat and nectarines should be caramelised, sticky and cooked through.
Serve with Asian greens and Basamati rice.
PS ginger is easy to grow in your garden or a large pot. It needs morning and sun and a lot of water as it is a tropical plant. It dies down in winter, only to surprise you with new shoots in the spring. Fresh ginger adds a zingy flavour to meat dishes, salad dressings, desserts and homemade cordials.
