Cranberry Coctail

This jewel coloured drink is perfect for Christmas.
Makes 6-8

2 litres cranberry juice
4 cinnamon sticks
6 cloves
2 star anise
1/2 cup spiced gold rum
squeeze of lemon or lime juice
1 litre soda water

Place the cranberry juice in a large saucepan, together with the spices. Bring to the boil, remove from the heat and allow to infuse for 30 minutes. Pour in the rum and chill before serving over ice, topped with soda.
